WiMT Spring 2023 First General Meeting With Dr. Arthur
On February 2, Dr. Claire Arthur, who directs the School of Music’s Computatonal and Cognitive Musicology Lab, kicked off the first general WiMT meeting of the Spring 2023 semester by giving an opening presentation on what it’s like to be a woman or underrepresented individual in music technology, and how to best endure the setbacks that may come with the experience.
Dr. Arthur was joined by both graduate and undergraduate members of WiMt in Couch 201 for this presentation. She was able to share some interesting statistics on women in music technology, social and cultural phenomena that minorities experience in academic settings, and personal anecdotes from her own life with the students in attendance.
